Always traveling, Monica constantly updates followers and readers on her latest discoveries throughout the world. We had a chance to ask Monica a few questions about her background and journeys. San Francisco, California

In what industry did your career begin?

Education Nonprofit

When was your first trip internationally and where did you go?

Canada, a short drive from Detroit, Michigan, where the majority of my family is from. I would have been in elementary school.

What inspires you when you travel?

Discovering new adventures and novelty experiences, the sense of freedom that comes along with travel, the opportunities to meet new people and learn their stories, and the doors that open to learning more about other cultures and our world's history.

What is your favorite international destination? What makes this place so special?

Cape Town, South Africa. I love the people, culture, food, vibes, and easy access to the outdoors, nature, and wildlife. It's special to me because I only intended on staying for a week and I ended up staying for 4 weeks. I quickly made new friends with both locals and expats and had the time of my life exploring the region and city.

What advice can you give to people looking to fulfill their passion through traveling and how can they get started?

A lot of full time travelers are able to travel because they freelance their skill set, they are photographers, graphic designers, software developers, writers, consultants, etc. My advice if you want to travel more frequently is to save money and book a flight. I wasn't able to travel without saving and making it a priority in my life. I lived well below my means, budgeted accordingly, and made it happen.

What aspect of travelling do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy getting to know the people in every new place I visit. Also, getting to know the culture via the food, sites, and local vibes.

What are a few destinations on your travel wish list? And why?

Finland, Namibia, Botswana, Colombia, and The Maldives, all because I've heard wonderful things about each of these places.
